Voice Therapy
“Awareness is the first step in healing.”
― Dean Ornish
“The greatest medicine of all is teaching people how not to need it.”
— Hippocrates
Voice therapy is rehabilitative intervention after an injury or pathology to address vocal pitch, volume, vocal quality, and overall vocal health. These can include:
Vocal fatigue
Vocal nodules
Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD)
Paradoxical Vocal Fold Movement (PVFM)
Laryngitis
Functional aphonia
Typically, a formal diagnosis from a healthcare provider is needed prior to beginning voice therapy. If you have not yet received a diagnosis from a healthcare provider, a screening may be conducted to determine if a voice disorder is suspected. If a pathology or voice disorder is suspected, then laryngeal imaging is recommended to determine the source of the problem prior to beginning voice therapy.
